This is great, but it meant I needed to buy an alarm clock. Why? Sleeping on the air mattress in my previous abode, I found myself naturally waking at 6am, then drifting in and out of a fitful sleep for a further couple of hours til I could bring myself to ride into work. My first night here I found that when I sleep in a proper bed, I just sleep. Hence the alarm clock, which you can see in all its glory by the bed.
The second thing to say is that I have a private decking area. It's highly exciting, and comes complete with cat:

Oh, and finally, I need some advice. Richard, my housemate, kindly donated this present hanging on my curtain rail:

Should I leave it there as a talking point for visitors, or should I go (almost) native and hoist it aloft over my decking area, for passers-by to salute? I think the latter.

God Save the Queen!
Fly it, but maybe also fly the Stars and Stripes too, just in case you ever receive any unwanted attention from the Feds.
Congratulations on your new place, it looks great. The balcony is magnificent.
Hey. What a splendid looking place! Firm but fair bed, cat, balcony. It's all there!
Happy birthday btw! Did you get any presents?
Indeed, it is all there.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I received lots of tea, someone baked me a cake and the girls from the office took me climbing, which gave me the present of arms which no longer work.
How's the kwak?
The Kwak's gas. Had a flask of the stuff last week. Mmmmm.
Graham et al send their regards!
