Good Cheer

I'm currently staying at a place a few blocks East of UofO, and downtown Eugene is on the other side. On my inaugural walk through the campus, one of the first things I saw was cheerleading practice. Truly, a sight designed to make the weary traveller feel welcome and at his ease. The cheerleaders formed a kind of human pyramid and then jumped down and shouted `hey!' or something. It was cool.

I then resolved to buy a bicycle. Having googled the locations of various cycling shops, I had a kind of travelling salesman problem, and my solution was sufficiently inefficient that I saw plenty of Eugene. It was a fun day, though of course no-one understands me when I first start speaking.

Go ducks! Um.

Wow... the UofO has Donald Duck as their mascot... respect!

I guess that could be trumped though, say if somewhere had Homer as their mascot.

You know where states that "Donald Duck is the only popular film and television cartoon character to appear as a mascot for the sports team of a major American university."

But can you trust it?

Try speaking with a heavy russian accent and you shall be understood! Or if still misunderstood at least that would be for a good reason:)

Who is this Eugene you are exploring and waking up with? Isn't Eugene a guy's name? I'm confused

Welcome to the United States. I have been in Annapolis this weekend so sorry to miss your landing.

Those immigration officials are tricky, I liked your response to her.

Have a great time exploring Eugene!

Any idea what the most dangerous sport in America is? Indeed, it's so dangerous that it causes more injuries than all other sports combined. Answer: cheerleading!

Simon, I can see how that would be very, very confusing. I do sympathise. However, through the power of wikipedia I can tell you that it was named for Eugene Skinner. Does that help?

UO is apparently one of only three US universities to have an competitive cheerleading team. That's what a guy in the pub told me, but it could've been pure fantasy.
