Drive My Car!

Yes, people in Oregon may now legitimately instruct me to do the above. On a rainy afternoon this week, I took my driving test and...passed. Here's an artist's impression of what my licence might look like, when they eventually mail it to me:

Has anyone else taken a driving test, recently? I was pretty nervous, and the instructor remarked afterwards that I'd seemed tense! But it helped that the Oregon test isn't particularly involved; the only manoeuvre was driving into a parking space. Oh, the madness of the British test with its three-point turns, emergency stops and parallel parking. Anyway, Allison's `Vo and I managed just fine.

There're some other recent events to talk about: another gig last weekend, and I still haven't mentioned my encounters in Ann Arbor. But, they'll have to wait, as tomorrow I'm off to San Diego to find out something about metagenomics. Woo.

Yes, driving is the American way, but the title demands I celebrate with a well-known British tune:
Song of the day (28a)

...but I guess I can also play some Freescha:
Song of the day (28b)

...and the most famous band from Athens, GA, since my first trip there may not be so very far in the future:
Song of the day (28c)

Hey,

Congratulations! Athens GA is a great place, will you drive there? That would be quite a trip.

Thanks Steve! You've been to Athens? Right on. I'm looking forward to going, but it'll probably be by plane rather than car.

You're right, though---it'd be an awesome road trip. Some day....
