What happened in/to June (Part 1)

Uhm. I didn't mean to hiate, but in any case I'm back now.

June was a very busy month, and do let me take you through it. Well, first up was Allison's birthday. Did I ever tell you guys about the Bier Stein? It doesn't quite match the magic of the Bircus, which incidentally is no longer in existence, but it does stock a surprising proportion of the same beers. Richard can confirm that they even serve Kwak in Kwak glasses. (If he wants to.)

Anyway, I digress. The plan was to attend the Stein for Allison's birthday, but due to a sewage problem we were summarily ejected. That's really all I wanted to say about the evening, apart from the facts that it was of course a roaring success, ended drunkenly and served as an adequate celebration of said birthday. Adequate, that is, if you ignore our subsequent, surprise trip to a secret location on the coast. It involved a lighthouse:

Well, isn't that enough already for a June, you might say? But no, here comes my mum, to visit Eugene for a couple of weeks. It was a really great trip, and nice for her to see me in my element. We visited the coast, Portland, the Ashland Shakespeare festival, various cute towns, and she got to meet many of my colleagues and friends out here. She'll probably recommend you to visit Oregon, if you give her half a chance. For some reason I don't have any photos of mum in Oregon, to prove that all of this took place, but she did take this one. It was a glorious day up at King Estate winery:

Next time I write, I'll tell you all about the cottage. And my current trip to Maine. Maybe even my upcoming trip to Atlanta, GA, if it's happened by then.

It's all go.

This guy from Seattle is almost unspeakably indie. He's been on an insurance TV commercial, and yet is still indie. That's pretty indie.

Song of the day (34)

I might catch him in Eugene, after the travels.

Yes I can confirm the Kwak bit.

Sounds like you had a great June!

I'm going to pour a beer into a Kwak glass right now.
